Stupid. Sorry. Sad. Embarassing. So these people would rather have an extra $0.91 than added security and safety. Hopefully this doesn't cause 911 to make cuts, and potentially end in lost lives that could have been prevented.
This is a shame.
The voters have spoken! Naturally I'm disappointed, but being the optimist that I am, I will look at the glass as half full-after calculating what I'll be saving on my one land line and one cell phone,I'll have another $1.82 a month to spend! Hey, that's almost 2 lottery tickets, or a big bag of chips. I am worried about my 89 year old father, but since I know that 911 will continue to provide the best service they can (as the budget will allow) my concerns are probably unfounded.
The defeat of this minimal increase exemplifies the extreme short-sightedness of the local populace!
You can not keep putting the costs of more government services on the backs of the people. Let the people keep thier own money they already pay to many taxes as it is. There are a number of areas to make cuts that the people could easily live without however the unions and lawmakers do not like to lose pet projects. 2010 will hopefully bring massive cuts to our excessive Government. We are responcible for ourselves and do not need the government to care for us.
this was more about the question marks surrounding this request, such as no knowledge of how many phone lines are in the effected area. we were asked to vote on a weather report, and we know those aren't too accurate. i think more info would have led to a more positive outcome. they just thought they would play the bleeding heart card again and it would pass. it's time to wake up and realize that the times are indeed changing in our great country. this is just a small example, more to come.
Maybe the Chief could use some help, like a financial analyst, use some grants$$ to get the ship tidy and tight, open local police lines to non-emergency calls again, we lived without any 911 for a millenium, it's very important, but should be run efficiently, too many programs already lack efficiencies that all the rest of us live with daily. It's only prudent and fair, and more neccessary now than ever. JMO
NO NEW TAXES or FEES no matter how much big government wants it we need to have them make cuts and they should be deep
