So will someone crack her skull too? Or will we just slap her on the wrist? Hopefully the baby is taken away from her. I can't imagine how messed up in the head you must be to do this to a baby, especially your own baby. But I am sure she has an excuse. Everyone always does. It could never have been her fault.

I beg to differ, for the love of God I hope she didn't do it, but there are alot of things out there that have the same injuries resembling shaken baby syndrome, and for people to judge harshly without the paper reporting the whole circumstances shouldn't be the judge and jury. I know of a couple who was charged with shaken baby syndrome and found out that the injuries were injuries sustained at birth that did not show up until 3 months after the birth. They had all of their children (5) whisked away by social services and put in a foster home for almost a year, plus were judged harshly by the community only to find out they were innocent the whole time. Not only did it tear them apart, but I can only think of how the children felt not being able to be with their parents. So GET THE WHOLE STORY.

I suppose no one close to her recognized she may have been having parenting difficulties? Where is the baby's father in all this? I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest she was probably on welfare- if so, they should require parenting classes. 18 is too young to have a baby.

I am surprised to hear "Let alone her own baby" At one time I would have said that too but I now realize that is like a programed auto response to something like this and so I am writing about it. She nor anyone should do such a horrid thing to a child, it doesn't matter who's it is. I agree the child needs to be removed from her home. I pray the little baby boy recovers and his mother gets the help she obviously needs.

She'll get a slap and a "no no, don;t do it again". My little grandson came home from a week with his mother (my daughter in law) with his face beat to heck by her brother and the police and DHS did nothing, said it was rug burns (a black eye, scrapes all down the side of his face and a scratch from eye to chin that has left a huge scar) despite him telling us and them that his uncle got mad and threw him around. His mother is a drug abuser (documented) and still DHS supports her against our efforts to protect this little boy (he's 2!)
