If not. the City will open a can of worms for itself when and if someone drowns there. And that cost of a certain lawsuit for gross negligence, could be in the millions of dollars, not the petty $22K summer expenditure for safety. With the weather of a blizzard, noone could show either to voice comment.
Since the city has effectively neutered the Building Inspector position over the last few years, I can only imagine that the new streamlined City of Ludington will not miss the 5 positions that are lost. Funny that Shay mentions that city employees would have to take up to an 11% cut to retain the jobs, as they cut the Treasurer position's salary by more than that when they did their lateral switch for this elected position. Why can't Shay consider reducing the off-season hours of most of the City Hall crew, or making other positions contracted when needed. The city has been overstaffed for some time.
Can Rob Allard be given the utility maint. crew? Don't you have to have a water distribution license throught the DEQ to oversee the water lines?
