I think it would be great if Steve's were reopened. Scottville needs a place like that. Whoever buys it will need to put some serious money in it and make some serious changes to the interior and menu. The problem with Steve's before was that the food was average or a little below average and the inside seemed dirty and uninviting. It has a good location and needs to be operated by someone who knows the restaurant business.

I don't want to sound rude but where is there to shop in Sottville any more? Not even a grocery store.

Steves would run great with a few adjustments. One of those adjustments has already been taken care of.. Steves being operated under new management is going to do FANTASTIC!

i'm sorry to say but Scottville has been dying slowly for years. The politicians in that town decided that they needed to tax the population to death and no one can afford to live there. I loved the Scottville area but i saw the death march start 20 years ago.

It's too bad they went out of buisness, but unless they pretty much give the building away, there's just not enough buisness to keep it going no matter who is running it.

If someone puts a good place to eat in the old Steves word of mouth would draw people to Scottville to eat there. Its going to take more than a new resturaunt to breath life back into Scottville but its a start. Remember this the next time your shopping at Meijers or Walmart or eating at a chain resturaunt, you the reason those small town places are gone. You stopped spending your money at the small town buisness'

Bighammer, you're right on the money here. If one has never been in business for themselves (and it is obvious that post of these posters have not) they simply don't get it. In such a small market as Mason County (pop.aprrox 26,000) it is impossible for independents to compete with the Meijers, Wal-Marts, Little River Casino, Lowes, HomeDepot, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Staples, ect, without a conscience effort being made by the public to support them. If they are only "using" their local restraunt for a burger a month, put then when planning a wedding rehersal going to the casino, or "using" the local grocer for a pound of burger and a box of spaggeti for tonights dinner, then going to Meijers to spend $100.00 for their weekly groceries, or "using" the lumber yard for 2 boards, but when you want to redue your bathroom going to Lowes, you are not going to be able to have both. If you want the local independents in such a small market you must take care of them, they need cashflow to offer you the goods and services you expect, that can't happen without patronage. By the looks of downtown Ludington, and Scottville, the customer has spoken loud and clear as to what way they want to go. So don't look for any business person to invest hundreds of thousands of $$$$$ here, they can see the writting on the street. Think about this, little Custer is the only city in this county with a full line grocer in it. CUSTER, you had better take care of them.
