Dawson donated two pieces of his art to West Shore to start its art collection. It's only fitting the gallery be named after him.
Dawson also has 2 paintings in the Milwaukee Art Museum. I enjoy seeing them each time I visit - having grown up on a Riverton farm myself. Very exciting - the possibility that the gallery could be named for him - recognizing a local artist AND his influence on the art world.
After hearing that Sharon Bluhm was writing a book about Dawson, I did some net research on his work. He was an amazing artist. I'm excited about seeing his work permanently displayed in an art gallery housed at West Shore. Naming it after him is very fitting.
Dawson... didn't he play for the Cubs?
