Once again our collective genius' in Lansing are not thinking past today. This type of legislation opens up a whole can of worms and expense. Who's going to change the flags, at what cost to the taxpayer? And what if the flags fail to get changed and someone drowns, now the state can be sued. Don't our legislators have anything better to do with their time than this drivel? People have been swimming at our great lakes beaches forever, and "at your own risk" seems to have worked very well. If it isn't broke, don't fix it!

Posting flags does not work people don't pay attention to them. I feel the beach's should be closed when the water is not safe. A flag was posted in August 2011 when my granddaughter was swimming at the Pentwater Park when a red flag was posted. She drowned that day. She was caught up in a rip tide. And people stood around and watched as she drowned and yelled for help no one would help because they were afraid of the water. You see the beach should have been closed instead of flagged. The flages do not work. My heart is broken. I do thank the man that pulled her out of the water although it was to late.

Gee, I'm glad that Michigan doesn't have a full time legislature so we'd be getting more ridiculous regulations like this.
