It was just dredged last year, so it looks like city officials are looking for a handout. They may also have Manistee envy.
Of course Dilbert. Everyone knows it's only subsidies or pork-barrel spending when it goes somewhere else!
Would that be the same Army Corps of Engineers that "repaired" the lighthouse to it's now crooked position...? What is amusing to me is that it takes a City Council action to ASK our "reps" to consider funds for dredging projects. Wouldn't it make more sense to have the Coast Guard (stationed on the harbor) to keep track of water depths and study where sands drift from currents into the harbor...? These are things that should be being done without having to ASK for government actions .......
Instead of spending a million on improvements to the City Marina that amounted to the addition of a few transient docks, more than half coming from the Ludington taxpayers, why don't our Ludington leaders spend more of their time on doing things to improve the City, so that the increase in revenue can help to keep our harbor dredged when it needs to. Begging like this only encourages our congressmen to spend money we don't have.
