Unfortunately, the time has come for Manglitz to meet deadlines. Converting these boats to a fuel other than coal has been going on since the 1970's, and he has been well aware of it. Dumping your waste over the side has been banned for many years. How would you like our beaches if we didn't have a sewage plant and flushed our toilets directly on the city beach ??? How many tourists would come to visit Ludington then ??? We may as well close our doors and move out as Ludington would be a Ghost Town.
Yes, Mr Durbin most definately is being influenced by contributions from the Lake Express. I guess that they forget how much state and federal money they were given to start up, which would seem unfair to the Badger. Oh how the tables turn.
Dick Durbin doesn't need any Lake Express $$. He figures that all those wealthy tourists going across the lake between Ludington and Manitowoc will now have to take an alternate route, taking them through his state of Illinois and having them spend their money there. And let us not forget the add'l money he will get from like-minded Illini and environmentalists.
