This is such hypocracy.....Don't interfere with the right to own guns, but let's tell you what deer you can and can't shoot with them......With the price of hunting what it is now, how can you add MORE regulation to the average hunter....?....QDM-- It's a poor system all the way around.

Our hunting party has been practicing 8 point or better for the last 10 years. Many many years nothing! Let alone a few years of not even having a deer sighting by a group of four. The only difference we have noticed are the increase of hunting seasons by the DNR. Youth hunts, early doe hunts, veteran hunts, Extended doe season hunts. Raised platforms allowed, crossbows allowed, Increase in larger antlered deer? Forget it! As long as the DNR keeps practicing failed programs our next generation of hunters are in for a lot of disapointment Just as we are now.

Gee Howard, if you aren't seeing any deer for several years, I fail to see what difference your 8pt rule would be making. Sounds more like your issue is a need for habitat improvement. Snide - - - Give up the big conspiracy. There are rules to hunting as there should be. We already have plenty of laws that dictate what deer you can and can't shoot. It is no different than a size limit on a fish. You are promoting growth, maturity, and reproduction in the herd. While deer harvest numbers may be down for the first year or two after QDM is put through (hopefully put through) in 3 or 4 years it will be right back to where it is, with more deer being seen and in the herd. But I understand that you don't care what is best for the whole group, or for the deer herd, just yourself.

Well, EJT when you actually put in the time and work that actual hunting requires only to have NOVICE hunters allowed into the woods before you,it defeats the whole purpose of hunting. You see, it was meant to put food on the table, not a daycare center in the woods.PERIOD.
