Many, many people have "horror" stories regarding their personal encounters with Cole. To put him in a position of county wide authority would be akin to depending on a wolf pack to guard your sheep. Jeff Fiers has honor, character, and integrity. To lose him would be a crime against our community, and to put Cole in that position doubly so. Vote for Jeff Fiers this November. We need a good man like him in office.
Can't keep a good man down, go for it Sheriff Fiers.
I've seen a comment about Kim Cole being "snobby"? Why don't we talk about integrity. I find it odd that Mr. Fiers ran as a democrat 4 years ago. Riding on the coat tails of Obama? Now that it's not "popular" to be a Democrat, he run's as a Republican? If you (Mr. Fiers) wanted the voters to decide in November, why didn't you run as a Democrat? Then you (Mr. Fiers) stated in a LDN article the day after the primary vote that you will honor the voters and help Mr. Cole in his transition to Sheriff and now, you've changed your mind.....again? Is this the way you run the Mason County Sheriffs Dept? No wonder there is poor moral. You also spoke about being fiscally responsable yet you are going to put extra strain and I'm sure cost to the election process by requesting a write in campaign. You are are true politician
JUST with you having encounters with Cole, make your statement unreliable since most people who have encounters with LE have negative things to say about them after. I bet people have horror stories with encounters with Sheriff/SGT Cole, if these certain people you claim have had "horror" stories, were obeying the law and weren’t criminals then they wouldn’t have had a horror experience. I’d say going to jail or prison would be a horror story. Luckily, I respect the laws and LE and I don’t have any horror stories, because I obey the laws. By trying to Call Sheriff/Sgt Cole out saying he has abused his position numerous times is an extremely bold and very disrespectful comment. You think if that was true your buddy Fiers would have him still on their force and in the Sgt position?? I don’t think so. So again, why is the LDN approving comments that are throwing mud at ONE certain candidate? All of these comments made about Cole should require facts and none of jeffs cronies have stated any. All they are doing is hurting jeff, but this a good thing for this county. If I was jeff I’d be upset about people who support me looking like immature, uneducated human beings
It's unfortunate that the political process has been convoluted into the mess it is today. Jeff ran as a Republican because, in the August vote, you can only vote Democratic or Republican, and there were too few democrats running for most people to spend their vote on them. If we were allowed individual choice, the outcomes would have been vastly different. Integrity has nothing to do with it. And what costs will a write-in incur? Nothing. Jeff has never accepted contributions of any kind. And he auctioned off the Cadillac Escalade Hartrum bought with taxpayer money, along with initiating numerous cost cutting programs such as new Neighborhood Watch areas, which have caused crime to drop in our county. Jeff is on the right track. I believe Cole has a surprise in store come November. The words "Cole" and "integrity" don't go together.
JUST, first off, Hartrum never drove an Escalade...just an explorer....same one Jeff drives...and show me the stats that prove that we have less crime in the county.....put those stats up for the entire county and dont try putting the township or area you live in.
Just: The really sad thing is they didn’t teach the political process in school or they just didn’t do a good job. In 2008 Jeff Fiers road in on the Donkey (Democrat symbol) Obama road in his quest to be elected President. In 2012 Jeff could have been on the November ballot as the Democrat candidate for Sheriff. He again tried to ride some else’s wave Elephant (Republican symbol) to be Re Elected. There were more than enough true Democrats that voted in the primary to have Jeff on the Democrat “ Donkey” again. By switching rides Jeff upset both the Democrats and Republicans. I don’t see why you people keep bringing Laude Hartrum and Larry Stewart into this campaign. True Kim Cole worked with and then for them both. Kim however was not a part of either administrations and was not asked for his input in their decision making or when they worked on their budgets and made purchases. I have been told in life that one should not gamble (bet) more than they can afford to lose. That is why I seldom go to a casino. Laude knew it was a gamble when he ran for Sheriff and lost in his bid to be Re Elected. Laude had to sell his home and move his family to a family member’s cottage / cabin. He also worked 1 ½ hours or more away from his family. It was understood that when you run for and are elected in any political office the voters are your employer and every four years or what ever the length of the term, the voters will again decide if you have earned the chance to work for them another term. Laude lost his home he had purchased with his wife and had to work away from home. Jeff made the same decision as Laude to gamble (bet) his job security that he would be re elected if he won in 2008. The voters didn’t agree that Jeff had earned the chance to work for them again. Now Kim Cole has decided to gamble (bet) his job security that he will prove to the voters that he will deserve another chance to work for them in 4 years. It’s a vicious cycle but when you lose the right thing to do is move aside and let the employers (voters) new pick play his / her hand. Thank you, Robert Wilson, Retired Corrections Officer, Fountain.
Sheriff Fiers does not seem to know which way he is going. First he changes from Democrat to Republican. Then he says he will help Kim Cole in his transition to Sheriff, but turns around and says he will run as a write-in. He also wanted a job under Kim Cole, but he changed his mind about that too. Sheriff Fiers may be a good politician, but not the best choice for Sheriff.
If Mr. Fiers had remained a Democrat he would have stayed on the ballot for the November election and would have been up against Sgt. Cole. Now because of his changing over to a Republican for the primary and lost; now he wants to run as a "Write-In" which will now cost the county taxpayers more money as each ballot will have to be hand-counted! Thank-You Mr. Fiers!!! I can't wait to read your next Facebook posting listing all of the things that you say Sgt. Cole did or said to the People to get their vote! Please list the date, time and place so that they can be varified prior to the November election. Tell your supporters that they need to do the same...instead of all the name calling and innuendos! The voters deserve to hear the truth!
"just" - that is nonsense. If Fiers would have just STAYED in the Dem ticket, this election would not have mattered. He would be the only Dem, Cole would be the only Republican, and the vote would be in November.
If Kim Cole is such a bad cop, why hasn't his boss done anything. Who is Kim's boss? Oh it's Sheriff Fiers.
John you can't handle the truth
Jim, Oh, you have decided this for me? You think you know better than me of what I can "handle"? Typical Liberal...telling us what to think. Let me decide for myself! Tell us all what the "truth" is! We the "People" need to know before the election in November. So, Jim do tell us all.
Good luck but i will always vote Rebublican.
