Presuming the officers used common sense precaution to subdue the individual for some illegal offense and who refused to submit to arrest, and the choice of arrest came down to some form of force, then the city should clearly not settle this outside the courts. The taser is the least lethal method available to subdue an arrest-resisting citizen. In the old days it would have been blunt force or worse. Do not set precedent by appeasing some suit-hungry, disgruntled greedy individual.
What a dirt BAG!! I am pretty sure he had it coming. In the big city they would have done worse and that. We need to support the hard working men and women of our Police force.
Or maybe an officer acted inappropriately.
So beatgoeson, just WHERE do you get your info...? Did you actually read the suit...? The officers in question were not trained or authorized to use the tasers at the time in question. The City will pay AGAIN for it's SHODDY law enforcement.
Thebeat, read the actual content of this lawsuit at another local website and say whether you feel the same way.
Snide if YOU actually read anything you would know that a city officer wasnt even the one that tased Joe. So maybe you should do a little more research on the situation
You see this all the time, a person is not listening to LE and then gets tased and then wants to go after them because they want MONEY. It’s all because people are so greedy and so quick to always want to file a lawsuit. Snide and Dolores, I don’t see any reason to jump on here to bash your local LE for putting their lives on the line every day for you and then are just so quick to judge based on one person’s word. It’s very sad to see what people say on here and actually gets posted. Situations like this there are always two sides to the story. Why isn’t the entire story and facts posted on here? There has to be more information that could be posted to be fair to BOTH sides.
No!! I think the one who got tased is at fault. The Police don't go around with the mentality of "hay!! Let's go out and get someone today". Really!! These are trained Officers with a Passion to do the right-thing. Maybe he was looking for a easy check to go with his other means of making money. My guess they,... busted him in the past and this is some pay-back... Someone looking for Pay back, you know like a child would do. This will cost us... the Tax payers, so blame him not our Police Force.
Hey guys, calm down now, there was and is not ANY history of criminal arrest in this young man at all, ever, and even if there was, basic civil and constitutional rights were violated, and not just slightly, but, hugely. You guys need to read the lawyers' transcripts of the case first. The cost is because of abuse, period. Since when do officers of LE tase an individual in a hospital bed with handcuffs on? And that's just the tip of this Huge Iceberg too. I fully respect and endorse LE when they do their job with professionalism, but it's lacking here severely. Please check it out all the way before you make a final decision, thanks.
It’s easy to base your opinion on a lawyer’s transcript...i bet there is video of it and I bet there is a police report that explains why they did it. LE don’t just go out and just tase people for the heck of it. There is a lot of work that goes into their reports after a tasing and a lot of responsibility that goes along with using a taser. They wouldn’t use a taser and put their credibility and job on the line. I respect our local LE and this Joe guy isn’t a tiny person, so I bet it was needed.
It's easy to base your opinion on a lot of tight-lipped public officials who knows there is something wrong when you have a lot of cops untrained in the use of their Tasers send charges through someone who is cuffed to a hospital bed, after assaulting that same person without cause at a traffic stop. This happens here, people, yet we had a sheriff's race when nothing about this came out-- until after the race is over.
Wow Dolores, it seems like you know so much about this? Were you involved?? So she got pulled over for no reason, then joe got tased for no reason by officers who weren't trained with tasers huh? I bet the traffic stop and the entire incident is on a dash cam. Its very easy for someone who is filing a lawsuit to go around and spread lies so they dont look as silly when they dont win a lawsuit against a city.
