Great job by local Twp govt. in passing these ORV Ords.!!
John I too am glad these ordinances have passed. I gives me the right to ride my Orv. Just the same as you have right to respond to this article. We are both lucky that we have the freedoms to do so! So lets get back to grieving for those that are lost and their family that are still here!
The ATV riders were actually breaking the law as the ORV ordinance did not pass in Norman Township. Also, the way the ordinance read even if it had passed, they still would have been breaking the rules of it. They had to have been speeding and the were riding off road, which wasn't going to be allowed either. It was supposed to have been only on the road shoulders.
So it’s the townships fault he chose not to wear and helmet and could have possibly been riding recklessly? When will people take some accountability for their own mistakes or others mistakes and stop wanting to blame cities, townships, or counties. We have begun to get so lawsuit crazy over everything when so many of the situations can be based on the choices the individual made.
Howard, people’s rights are the issue here. You are free to ride your machine anywhere it’s legal. Also the ORV ordinance is not supported in general by people whose rights are most affected mainly resident non-riders. Good for Norman Twp. in not supporting this stupid law. Maybe that will keep this township from judgments against it and their citizens.
John so the way I read your stance on orv ordinances is only local people have rights. And since the ordinance did pass it, It is in fact Law. As for your statement: (Also the ORV ordinance is not supported in general by people.) Just where did you pull this out of? I think the majority of the people really know that answer! Good for you commissioners your doing your job as you should be.
