They have only "brined" the road twice! They go past our house to the corner and brine from there - like we are singled out! I PAY my TAXES! Why do i have to drive on a washboard road? They don't work as hard as they sit and talk on the side of the road. They sould be paid as the work is completed just like other contractors! And take care of ALL THE ROADS - not just the ones that they "get" to - fair is fair!
I bought on a paved road for that reason
Why is it everytime an article is posted about the road commission everyone complains about the quality of their roads??? If you don't like the way your road is maintained, contact someone who can help you instead of posting on LDN. This article has nothing to do with your road. The people who work there do the best they can with the resources they have. And now it sounds like they might not even be able to get healthcare through their employer. To me, having someone's insurance benefits taken away is a larger issue than your washboard road!
Toni - must be married to one of them. Yes I do call - no they do not fix our road! You should really learn the truth - if you don't like to read my comment - then DON"T LOOK! In fact it DOES have something to do with my road. They sould be paid like any other contractor - if you did read the article it stated that they would get an increase in pay so that would compensate most of the benefits.
Excuse me. Read the story you are commenting on before you comment. The Road Commission has a board of commissioners that are appointed By the County Board not elected. The issue is about that part time board having County paid health insurance. The County board just went through this for their own board. This issue has nothing to do with the people you see driving the snow plow trucks , maintaining the county roads. The issue is with the appointed part time board that oversees the running of the Road Commission. Now that you know the rest of the story go a head and complain about how a part time board shouldn’t be getting health insurance in the first place. Robert Wilson, Fountain.
Why does the LDN not publish the fact that being a commissioner also seems to entitle you to have your gravel road, graded every week. Plus now, not only does it get graded more than others, it has been widened, more gravel added and asphalt paved up to their home? Why is that? And who pays for that? It is really sad to see all this work done for 'certain' people because they are on the board. The cross road, everytime it rains, washes out so bad that there are huge ruts and if anyone were to have to move over, let alone the bus that travels that road twice daily, would either tip over of get stuck. Something is definetly wrong with this system and the way it is ran.
Name I pay my taxes also but the mcrc doesn't not get any money from property taxes only road taxes,I believe.
