The Ambassador bridge is 83 years old and handles 60-70% of the commercial traffic in the area. If the old girl ever had to be closed for any reason it would cause huge economic impact to Michigan business. In addition traffic backups are often and long at the bridge. No reason not to let Canada pay to build a new bridge. Additionally as I understand it, because an agreement has already been made between Michigan and Canada this amendment would not even apply to the Bridge issue.
All of the ads on television opposing the bridge are being paid for by the owner of the current bridge. That should tell you all that you need to know.
