To just offer them nighly shelter seems like only 1/2 the job. You need to help them gain employment and to be able to fend for themselves and become responsible tax payers. If you are going to invite them here, then please take responsiblity for their daytime activites also, and stop dumping them at the library.
Maybe Toni should invite them over and do that work. To complain that this group "is only doing 1/2 of the job" is rude and disrespectful. Apparently it is never enough. Everyone wants more handouts.
Anyone is more than welcome to come and help at any of the rotating shelters. It takes a lot of work and compassionate individuals to keep these shelters open and operating. Yes, I'm sure that there are a lot of things that could be done differently or better. The volunteers who do this do their best to help the less fortunate in every way that they know how. Step up and step out...volunteer to help and see where you can make a difference yourself. Don't judge this program until you have stepped up and tried to help it. Tim and Tammy Martin do an awesome job, as well as the countless volunteers who have spent time providing meals, a warm bed, haircuts, an open ear, love, compassion, transportation...and so on. This is a wonderful program with wonderful people. May it continue to be blessed.
