this is a terrible thing, anybody with info needs to call that detective, any body that knows those guys from out of town that he had words with needs to step up to the plate and tell what u know ( not acusing them)but they obviously had contact with him that night.u can keep your identity hidden, his family is going through alot right now. if u were at michaels that night make a call!to his family my prayers and thoughts r with u all.

Here's a question for you. A man is missing and on the front page of the LDN is a story about a girl and her jeep... Priorities are a little off today, huh?

I no longer live in Ludington, so I rely on the LDN to keep my apprised of the local goings on back home. It's been great so far regarding online coverage, but often I pull up the electronic copies of the actual newspapers and peruse that version. I'm curious, why hasn't the missing persons story hit the front pages yet? Doesn't this seem like something that should be made as publicly known as possible?b

My thoughts and prayers are will the Smith family. I hope they hear some good news soon. I am also very disappointed in the LDN coverage on this issue. The entire front page was wasted with a trivial photo of a girl and a Jeep. should have been front page news. Many people aren't even aware that he is missing. The LDW should have put his picture on the front page and asked the readers for any information. Many new leads could have generated. The LDN needs to be more responsible in what they consider news. Next week I will have completely forgotten about the chick with the Jeep but I'm sure I will never forget Gabe.

I totally agree with the concern of the front page on Tues. The priority should have been Gabe, but I would assume that the LDN will take a hit on their poor choice of judgement. Also what is up with the comment regarding Gabe having words with some guys from out of town?! If this is true, why hasn't it been mementioned in any of the media reports? It is unbelievable that no one has any information on who Gabe was with that night, who he spoke to, what his plans were after the bar. We all know that as the bar is closing, it is quite common to stand around and find out what everyone else is doing that night. My thoughts and prayers are with Gabe and his family.

The Smith's have been our next door neighbors for almost 20 years. They are a wonderful family and very warm and caring people. My heart goes out to Terry, Peggy and Rhiannan during this time. And my prayers go out to them and to Gabe in the hopes that he will return home safely.

CLARA on December 13, 2007 at 7:07 AM

I need to agree with the statements about the LDN....I have known Gabe for years and it seems to me that his disappearence would have been much more well percieved by the public as opposed to the stupid girl and jeep story. Get your stuff straight LDN, where are your priorities? It may have been front page news today, but only after the backlash from yesterday. On another note, my prayers and well wishes go out to the the Smiths, their friends, and family. If you know something, or hear something, wether you think it's relevant or not, let the police know, and they'll decide to follow it or not. Give them the means to do their job! Come home safe Gabe!!!

Terry, Peg and Rheannon... I just wanted to let you know that Alyssa and I are praying that Gabe be returned safely. It broke our hearts when Todd told us about Gabe. I can only imagine what you are going through... Please know that we are thinking of you and praying for you all. Our love to you... ~Alyssa & Stacey

First and foremost, prayers to Terry, Peggy and their family and friends. Kudos to all who have been helping in anyway. I'm just wondering if we missed something. The reports in the paper said that Det. Harrie said there is no reason to expect foul play. If there truly were "words" between Gabe and some others, wouldn't there be some probable cause to suspect foul play? I'm sure that everyone is working towards a command goal, but we need to persue all avenues if the "words" at the bar are a true reflection of events Sat. evening.

We haven't seen if Gabe has been found. Why hasn't there been any followup on this story? Wm B. Ludington MI Editors note: There has been plenty of follow-up just nothing new.

Reflecting back on 2007 article below. Why is there nothing on the missing man, Gabe? http://www.ludingtondailynews.com/news.php?story_id=38572&newsgroup_id= I think the whole town is starting feel helpless. The search ect must go on. We can't all just give up.
