Out of thousands of people, 80 arrests isn't so bad. Why the focus on that instead of the joy and good times the concert brought to the area? One paragraph on the courts page would have been sufficient...i.e., who cares?
This takes the cake. If you do not have the resources then why make arrests. Oh I forgot, just to plea out the cases. Maybe the prosecutor and those involved should have thought about it before the festival.
While I admire your coverage of this event. Your article tells us that there were 88 arrests, yet not one mention of any specific charges. How many charges were filed during last year's festival compared to this year? Give us more than just "a piece of news." Give us some meat with the story. A few more details and facts would improve your reporting.
Prosecutor Shaw is not the sharpest pencil in the box. He also lacks integrity.
this could end up costing the county a bundle they dont have. WHY not just "Ticket" the offenders and generate money that is needed..especially since oceana county spent thousands of dollars by putting undercover officers in the rothbury crowd to apprehend drug offenders. YES, MOST if not all arrested were for drug offenses.. (yawn)...
Drug offenses at the Rothbury Fest? No say it aint so. Thats all Rothbury Fest is. They should rename the festival to Drug Fest.
It won't cost the county a bundle. They will MAKE MONEY on the deal. Guilty defendants pay fines AND court costs.
