This moratorium has no meaning or legal power, and opens the door for the city to be sued for establishing an illegal moratorium of a state law. The city should do nothing other than enforce state and federal laws at this point. The Planning Commission should have started looking into the ramifications of this law back in 2008 when it was passed by 63% of the state's electors. Did they? No.
"time to figure out the best way to administer medical marijuana".........? REALLY ! ??? Where have you been for over the last TWO YEARS....? We voted on this quite a while ago..... I guess it's easier to just arrest people than check records to see who is legal...... Will there be a moratorium on vicodin in the city of ludington as well....??????? Or will I be watched for speaking out...?
Ok if I understand correctly this moratorium is just to stop someone from setting up a dispensiry, right? With the growing number of people getting their cards, how long does the council thing that will last? I don't know about locally, but in other towns/cities it is so easy to get this card at this point that before the rules and restrictions are in place everyone will have one. I would rather see a dispensiry selling it legally, then having more people selling it illegally. Plus you still have Compassion clubs willing to buy it from the growers with cards. Some growers can grow a lot being they get 12 plants for themselves, plus if they have a clean record they are allowed to be the caregiver for 6 people. Meaning they can now grow like 84 plants, so think about it. If people with cards don't grow for themself or have a caregiver, then they will be needing a dispensiry to get their stuff. Having a dispensiry locally would put more money into our already crappy economy here, instead of locals going out of town to the dispensiries. The medical Marijuana isn't going away and people are going to be getting it, so why not help our local economy by allowing a dispensiry?
The City did the same thing with a new State traffic law some years ago, right turn on red. They objected to it, and put signs on all the stop lights prohibiting it. It must have taken about 3-5 years for the stupid signage to come down and we finally caught up with the rest of the State. Funny, with all the other pending unresolved people's business of lost stores and manufacturing, jobs, infrastructure, and so much more Important issues on the City's plate, that they are distracted and occupied with this now. Shameful and a waste of time. They simply don't stay focused on issues of matter here at home nowadays.
Marijuana should be legal and taxed.
Marijuana has been demonized by this town, and this town is the reason why people smoke it. All these years our freedoms of speach and expression have been denied, and we have been controlled by the media and Chaotic Censorship. Police have used this tool to destroy many lives for years. Its time we stand up and sue the City'
