Or LMC could just fix up the Spartan and run it themselves on that route, not sell to these people.

Give them the Badger. The permit is expiring in a few weeks and there's no word back yet from the EPA about an extention.

Could this be a plan in place just in case the Badger is done? The Spartan name being used instead of the Badger so as not alarm Badger lovers.

Good luck with that idea. The Spartan would need brand new engines, and a lot of work to be able to even run again. It has sat idle since around 1979 or 1980 And giving them the Badger wouldn't work either, as LMC has said that they believe the new permit extension would be approved. And why sell the Badger when LMC is already putting all this work into the docking area and apron? The website for this company doesn't even look that well done, so poorly done that it doesn't even look legit. A high schooler in a design and marketing class could have done better.

Pretty painful to read that website, with all of the typos and errors. Must have been part of a school project.

Whomever speculated on this possible decision is misinformed to the max.. First of all the Spartan has been cannibalized for over 30 years to keep spare parts on and for the Badger. Next is the cost to move that ship to Seattle, which would be a huge outlay in itself. Then they would have to totally refit the ship with new engines, safety equipment, and hull work/inspections. Way over $10 Million and why spend that when you could get a new ship built for less? Like I said, the press release has to be a joke or someone totally lied.

The SS Spartan has and continues to have it's home in Ludington. Can anyone imagine the cost and job to transport her over to Seattle? In her present condition? Why can't the LMC find a useful job for it at home? Tours, museum, overnight lodging, dances with bands, cafe, cafeteria, anything that keeps her productive at HOME! This entire idea must be a sham, it baseless in financial realities. Tim is on point here in my opinion.
