And mostly for the benefit of, you guessed it, our tourists, not the locals.
Eddie- How is this only for the tourists? Are locals not allowed to use these facilities? Your comment makes no sense. It will be nice to have those run down, nasty bathrooms replaced or fixed up. And yes, tourists will also benefit, but with Ludington being a very touristy town, wouldn't it make sense to cater to them to bring in more business?
I agree EJT. Eddie, how can you say it mostly benefits the tourists? Locals dont use those bathrooms when they are down their for the Gus Macker, 4th of July, Lakestride, or just being down their using one of the nicest beaches in the area. The only sad thing is about this story is that once again a local company didn't get the job.
It would be nice to have a family restroom there also. Where a single Father doesn't have to take his young daughter in the mens room, or single mom doesn't have to take her young son in the ladies room, and where do I take my handicapped wife to help her out of the wheelchair? Come on, Ludington, you can do better. Hal
I am a local taxpayer and will take full advantage. We live in a tourist area and our businesses depend on it.
Hal, I think you touched on a very important note, and should bring this situation to the attention of the Ludington city council, before the construction begins. I don't think anyone else thought of it until now. Sdc, you are also right about letting this contract out to the outside contractors, that in itself is not right. However, if you go thru the beach on any given busy day of summer, it's so hard to find a park, that I hardly ever can use the bathrooms there, so I instead go elsewhere if need be. Doesn't anybody think $86K is grossly distorted for funding of bathrooms to just be remodeled?
